At a recent crane design seminar in Los Angeles, ZPMC’s president and chief engineer Guan Tongxian said that modern post-Panamax cranes had reached such a size that “traditional wind protection measures are ineffective.”Guan listed Typhoon Maemi and other wind-related incidents in China as evidence of a growing problem and said further work on wind protection was required.
