Six carriers involved in the Mediterranean/ West Africa trade are revamping their operations, in the hope of offering their customers better levels of service while reducing their own cost bases.

The two shipping operators have made some changes to the services they offer in the Mediterranean

Izmir, Turkey-based Arkas Line, which is firmly established in the Mediterranean intra-regional trades, has started its first service to/ from northern Europe.

Izmir-based Arkas Line has upped its presence in the eastern Mediterranean liner shipping sector with a new ship and deploying its own tonnage in a jointly operated string. The 2,837 TEU EMMA A, its largest ship to date, has begun operating in the line’s core Turkey-Levant service. This string calls at Istanbul (Marport), Izmir, Gemlik, Alexandria, Port Said, Beirut, Mersin and returns to Istanbul.
