As of mid-November, more than 2000 shipping containers had been barged from Stockton to Oakland since the “M-580-Marine Highway” opened in June. After a delayed start, the M-580 Marine Highway barge service between the two ports seems to be a success. It was conceived to reduce the number of trucks using the I80 highway to transport consumer goods and agricultural products between central and northern California.
