Flexitank growth slows but remains brisk

Stolt Tank Containers’ operating profit decreased by approximately 30.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024 as the company braces for challenging market outlook.

The Hamburg-based Hoyer Group, which is one of the world’s largest operators of tank containers and other equipment for transporting liquids and gases, is to invest over €100M, in assets, digitalisation programmes and infrastructure.

Last year was a bumper one for the production of tank containers, but now an oversupply looms.

Bulk wine shipments are on the rise and flexitanks are in a good position to play a bigger role in this trade.

The tank container industry is going on the offensive in terms of defending its patch, with flexitanks and ocean carriers in its sights.

Newly-formed DX Intermodal, based in Frankfurt-am-Main in Germany, operates a data hub connecting all players in European combined transport in terms of data technology
