Short sea shipping is high on the political agenda in Europe. The Dutch, who currently hold the EU’s rotating presidency, want to prioritise the mode as their economy has much to gain by it. According to the Dutch short sea information bureau, short sea traffic is still showing healthy growth in the Dutch seaports, making up for a stagnation in deep sea flows.
