Kazakhstan plans new China-Russia transit route
NewsKazakhstan is developing a new trade route from China to Russia via the Irtysh River, with a port and railway planned, aiming for completion by 2026.
Thanks to its mass exports of forestry and chemical products, the Nordic region has a balanced trade with the Far East. The Transsiberian rail corridor may provide an alternative to Suez, which usually requires transhipment over a North Continent port. Transit time, on average, would be cut from 5-6 to 2-3 weeks.
