Great White Fleet to be sold?

Chiquita’s Great White Fleet has added 800 new reefer containers with Carrier Transicold’s PrimeLINE container refrigeration units.

Maersk Container Industry will supply 2,500 new containers to Chiquita, including 1,000 units with its Controlled Atmosphere system.

Chiquita is reorganising its European banana business. It has cancelled a contract with MSC that brought around 80,000 tpa of bananas in its containers into Bremerhaven, its traditional port for Germany, where bananas are ripened before distribution to Germany, Scandinavia and parts of Eastern Europe. Chiquita switched to MSC container vessels in 016, having previously called at Bremerhaven with its Great White Fleet reefer ships, carrying containers and breakbulk.
