Port of Montreal says container ships have started to divert to other ports as an indefinite strike starts at Termont’s Viau and Maisonneuve terminals.

CUPE 375 has issued a 24-hour strike notice from 7 a.m. Sunday, 27 October, affecting all operations at the Port of Montreal.

No resolution has been reached at the Port of Montreal as ongoing negotiations between the Maritime Employers Association and the longshoremen’s union continue to falter.

Longshoremen at the Port of Montreal in Canada have voted for a strike notice as their union heads into mediation to try and reach a deal on a new contract.
