Port of Dover invests in Liebherr LHM 550 Crane
NewsPort of Dover boosts operations with new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane.
Tampa Bay, Florida’s SeaPort Manatee and terminal operator Logistec USA Inc, a subsidiary of Logistec Corp, have welcomed the arrival of two new Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 mobile harbour cranes (MHCs),
“The pair of eco-efficient cranes arrived at SeaPort Manatee on Friday [22 April] via a transatlantic vessel voyage from their place of manufacture in Germany,” SeaPort Manatee said in an announcement. “Each of the cranes is capable of lifting loads of as many as 125 metric tonnes, and the two units combine to offer a tandem-lift capability of more than 200 metric tonnes – the most at any Florida seaport.”
The newly acquired Konecranes Gottwald G6 cranes join two Gottwald Generation 5 units and a Liebherr MHC in the fleet at SeaPort Manatee. Container traffic boomed at SeaPort Manatee in the six months to the end of March 2022, rising 26% to 85,383 TEU and setting a new record for the port. Volumes increased on the port’s main regular services operated by World Direct Shipping (WDS) and Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc.
“As SeaPort Manatee continues to grow, with all-time-high levels of cargo activity, the arrival of these cranes, along with such infrastructure enhancements as the expansion of dockside container yard facilities, heralds a new era for Manatee County’s hub of global commerce,” said Carlos Buqueras, SeaPort Manatee’s executive director. “We join long-time terminal-operating partner Logistec USA in looking forward to efficiently moving even more containerised goods and other cargoes to meet consumer and industry needs throughout Central and Southwest Florida and beyond for decades to come.”
