AD Ports on acquisition streak
NewsAD Ports Group is pushing further with its expansion strategy, having recently acquired Egypt-based Safina B.V. through its Noatum brand and taken majority stake in Georgia’s Tbilisi Dry Port.
Spanish multipurpose operator Noatum Terminals has acquired four Liebherr LHM cranes for its terminals in Castellón, Sagunto and Tarragona
Noatum Terminals is the port operating arm of Noatum Group, which also comprises Noatum Maritime and Noatum Logistics. Spanish integrated logistics company Algeposa also has a stake.
Two LHM 420 cranes with Pactronic hybrid drive are going to Noatum Terminal Sagunto. They have a maximum lifting capacity of 124 tonnes, and are expected to lift productivity in container handing up to 38 containers per hour. The cranes will also be used for bulk, breakbulk and project cargo handling.
Another LHM420 crane is destined for Noatum Terminal Tarragona, a facility specialising in port operations for agri-foodstuffs and other bulk cargo, which are main areas of trade at the Tarragona facility. The 4-rope crane will be located on the Castilla quay, to improve productivity of the automated installation that the company manages there.
The fourth crane is a LHM 5550 and will be operated at Noatum Terminal Castellón, a multipurpose terminal that offers comprehensive services for containerised cargo, other unitised and project cargo, and solid and liquid bulk. The crane has been acquired to optimise operational flows and the ongoing increase in the volumes transited by Noatum’s concessions on the Dársena Norte docks. The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 144 tonnes and a maximum outreach of 54m. It is optimised for bulk handling on Capesize class vessels, in addition to container handling and New-Panamax class vessels.
The first disassembled crane arrived in Sagunto on 5 January on board Dutch project cargo specialist Hartel Shipping’s HOOGVLIET. The other three units will arrive in the coming months.
There are already four mobile harbour cranes and six electric quay cranes at Sagunto, four mobile harbour cranes and two container cranes at Castellón, and two mobile harbour cranes at Tarragona.
