New rail freight services from Antwerp
NewsAntwerp will soon be the starting point for new rail freight routes to Istanbul by XPO Logistics and to Madrid by Kombiverkehr.
Kombiverkehr KG has started a new daily train pair linking the Baltic port with the Ruhr area
The new offer between Lübeck and Herne complements the Lübeck-Duisburg corridor, which now boasts 11 departures per week in each direction. On the Lübeck side, Baltic Rail Gate GmbH, a subsidiary of Kombiverkehr and LHG Lübecker Hafen Gesellchaft, is now l(un)oading around 50 trains per week.
“We are pleased that our network has been enriched by another destination and ee are now even better connected to the Ruhr area,” said Antje Falk, Managing Director of Baltic Rail Gate.
The new Herne connection is proving very popular, and the slots are very well booked from week to week. The train is operated jointly by Kombiverkehr and its affiliate European Cargo Logistics (ECL), which now has more leeway to meet demand from its customers in the Ruhr area.
