CMA CGM renews lease in Kaohsiung

Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) to upgrade Port of Kaohsiung’s 3rd and 5th container terminals.

The Kao Ming Container Terminal in Taiwan’s Port of Kaohsiung lost two cranes and suffered damages to another two in Super Typhoon Meranti this month. Kaohsiung is certainly no stranger to typhoons, and it is standard to equip quays and cranes with tie-down equipment.

Container throughput at the Port of Kaohsiung declined by 11.34% to 8.58M TEU in 2009, pushing it one place down in the world container port rankings to 13th position.
