Kaliningrad finds a role in Sino-European intermodal services

Since April this year, more than 90 container trains from China have arrived in the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad for onward distribution by sea to the ports of Rostock and Sassnitz, then for onward transport by rail to other parts of Germany or by ferry to Scandinavian ports such as Malmö and Karlshamn. A direct rail service is also offered between Sassnitz and Rotterdam.
