Despite Iran being severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing political uncertainties and extremely difficult trading conditions, investment in its ports remains strong. This year will see an estimated US$1.4B spent on capital projects, with two thirds of the funds provided by the private sector. This is well up on the estimated US$200M to US$250M spent by private companies in 2019.
