TEC in the frame
NewsSpain’s TEC Container SA has reported the delivery of two BA-030 ET overheight frames (OHF) to ICTSI’s new Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) in Melbourne.
Spain-based TEC Container SA, specialising in lashing systems, overheight attachments and other port equipment, has delivered five lashing cages to Noatum Valencia.
The safety cages are type BA-323 (three fixed 40ft and one telescopic 40-45ft) and one BA-185TC. All have a safety factor of 10, and they include several systems to ensure they can be safely fitted to the different types of container spreaders in the terminal.
“A particular feature is the manual securing system from inside the cage, without the stevedores having to climb,” said TEC’s director, Rafael Moragón. “The system is activated by a handle inside the BA-323 lashing cage and connects the cage to the main spreader.
“We created this model with ultra-large container vessels in mind, by introducing it in the gangways between containers, achieving easier, faster and safer unlashing.”
Model BA-185TC is an updated version of the base model BA-185, and allows elevation of the cage with connection to the main spreader at 40ft or 20ft in the central part of the cage, thus obtaining increase of the operative’s reach while lashing containers.
Moragón adds that, with both designs, the lashing team is free to move inside the cage. The difference in operation is that the BA-323 is “in between” the containers, while the BA185TC
is “over the containers”
