Bayport goes to 10

News-in-print

The Port of Houston Commission has added another RTG to an order for nine new units it placed with Konecranes earlier in Q2 this year.

Destined for the Bayport terminal, the new RTGs will have a 50t SWL and stack 6+1/1-over-5 x 9ft 6in high. They will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control, designed to eliminate container sway, to increase container handling performance.

They will also be equipped with safety and environmental features such as gantry anti-collision systems and environmentally friendly LED lights, while the diesel generators will conform to latest US-EPA requirements.
Container traffic at Houston has grown strongly this year, up 14% over the first 11 months, despite losing some business due to Hurricane Harvey. The port expects to finish the year having handled over 2.4M TEU.
