Ports of Auckland (POAL) in New Zealand has announced that it has decided to “partly” automate its straddle carrier terminal. Auckland will be the third full straddle carrier terminal to automate its operation, following the pioneering Patrick Stevedores projects in Brisbane and Sydney, and the fifth facility to use automated straddle carriers in some arrangement, when Tra-Pac in Los Angeles and VICT in Melbourne are considered.
