GXO Logistics successfully acquires UK’s Wincanton plc, becoming its sole shareholder, expanding its supply chain services globally.

Wincanton’s shares dipped 4.3 per cent in response to CMA CGM’s withdrawal, although they remain significantly higher than before the initial bid announcement.

CEVA Logistics, which is a subsidiary of Marseilles-based CMA CGM, is buying the UK’s supply chain solutions group Wincanton for £UK566.9M (about US$718M).

A two-week strike will go ahead from 19 September at 06.00h. Unite the Union says it cannot accept Peel Ports’ offer of 7%, while Peel Ports says the trade union has rejected an offer which is actually worth 8.3%

Pressure is growing on both sides to settle this damaging dispute, as shippers worry about further action when the “peak” season is underway
