CMP mulls Køge move

Copenhagen Malmö Port is planning to combine the ro-ro, container and combi-handling operations at Norra Hamnen in Malmö into a single new subsidiary company. Once it has consolidated the different aspects, the new company might be offered to a terminal operator on a concession basis.

Three port consultants in the Nordic region have started to cooperate to build a consulting network. Together, Jari Pirhonen (ex-Kalmar) of Pirhonen Consulting, Knud Vang Nielsen (ex-Aarhus Stevedores/Cargo Service and OCT Oslo) and Lennart Pettersson (ex- Copenhagen Malmö Port – CMP) have formed a trade name: United Port Consultants Nordic.

New locations are being sought for several ports, as authorities look for deeper water, less congested sites and greener solutions.

Copenhagen Malmö Port AB (CMP) and Watertruck AB are to start a daily barge service to connect container facilities on both sides of the öresund Strait. Operations will commence in March 2015 with four 100 TEU barges. Two or maybe three will carry containers while the other(s) will transport recyclable materials and bio fuels.

Helsingborgs Hamn AB (HHAB), the port authority and operator at the Swedish port of Helsingborg, and Copenhagen Malmö Port AB (CMP AB) have signed a letter of intent to investigate the scope for creating a joint port authority.
