In fiscal year 2015 alone, Mexico’s federal government will spend an estimated US$138M on the country’s ports. By 2018, it is hoped that Mexico’s main ports will be capable of handling 500 Mtpa of cargo, virtually doubling the 280 Mtpa of capacity that existed in 2012.
