The harbours of the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia, are likely to lose two thirds of their throughput to Ukraine’s continental seaports this year, and will be left with 4-5 Mt of Russian and Kazakhstani transit cargoes. Russia’s Minister for the Crimea, Oleg Savelyev, stated recently that the peninsular ports have lost their traditional cargo flows from continental Ukraine.
