New feeder for BNCT

Busan’s BNCT continues to grow rapidly, welcoming seven new services in the last six months.

With liner trades to/from the Middle East projected to remain bullish, terminals are being improved and new ones built to accommodate the expected growth.

Korea Marine Transport Co (KMTC) and Heung-A Shipping, both based in Seoul, South Korea, have started a new joint service connecting ports in North East Asia and northern Vietnam. Marketed as the Inchon Haiphong Service, it offers weekly direct calls at Busan, Inchon, Shanghai and Haiphong.

The first of 28 new CMA-CGM vessels with 9,400 TEU to 10,400 TEU capacity has entered service on the its BEX service connecting Asia, Turkey and the Black Sea.

Macquarie Korea Infrastructure Fund (MKIF) has entered into an agreement to invest Won259.4B (US$275M) for a 30% equity stake in Busan New Port Container Terminal Ltd (BNCT), the concession company with the right to develop, operate and maintain Phase 2-3 of Busan New Port (BNP).
