Which way forward for Hamburg?

Policy makers in Hamburg are split over the best way forward for the port. On the one hand, Ian Karan, the Senator for Economic Affairs, and the port authority (HPA) want to increase the opportunities for new investors to come in and operate the terminals. However, this is opposed by the port employers and business association (UVHH), whose current chairman is Klaus-Dieter Peters, the chairman of the port’s biggest operator today, HHLA.
