Sole bidder wins Ennore

Dr Susanne Marston, vice president and general counsel of APM Terminals, has told Guatemala’s Parliament that the company is going to start its own investigation into the Quetzal Container Terminal (TCQ) concession won by Barcelona-based Grup Marítim TCB in 2012 – almost three years before TCB was acquired by APMT.

APM Terminals has completed its US$1B acquisition of Spain-based Grup Marítim TCB’s port and rail interests. The deal was first announced last September (WorldCargo News, September 2010, p10). That deal was with Pérez y Cía for its 61% stake in TCB. In October, the remaining minority shareholders also agreed to sell their shares, resulting in APMT becoming the sole controlling shareholder, subject only to relevant approvals.

The announcement on 8 September that APM Terminals had reached an agreement with Pérez y Cía to acquire its majority stake in Spain’s Grup Marítim TCB came as a surprise to the industry.
