More trains planned at Long Beach

The Port of Long Beach has begun public hearings on a proposal that is aimed at increasing the use of on-dock trains and reducing the need for local truck trips near the port. The “On-Dock Rail Support Facility” is proposed for the northern area of the port and, says the port, will reduce train bottlenecks The port has released a “Notice of Preparation,” the first step in the environmental review process.
