A plan by the Tasmanian Government to concentrate the state’s container trade in Devonport and Bell Bay has infuriated north-west and west coast shippers and alienated users of the Port of Burnie.

State Infrastructure Minister Graeme Sturges revealed the strategy when announcing the government’s success in attracting A$150M of federal Infrastructure Australia funding for reclamation and expansion works at Bell Bay.
