Rotterdam keen on “green” pricing

The Port of Rotterdam (GHR) is aiming to introduce differentiated harbour dues featuring higher rate scales for “dirty” ships, whilst rewarding the cleaner ones. The port will seek international consultation in order to obtain IMO backing for its so-called Environmental Shipping Index (ESI), a scheme meant to classify ships into/in the correct pollution scale.
