The official opening of the new Vuosaari port in Helsinki marks the culmination of over two decades of planning. It is also the first time a major European capital port has relocated to a new location since the dawn of containerisation.

Vuosaari was not just a “greenfield site,” it is the new port for Helsinki. Two main cargo handling areas have been closed down in the “old” port and their activities transferred to the new area.
