RTGs for Cape Town…

South African port operator Transnet Port Terminals (ex-SAPO) plans to convert container handling at Cape Town from straddle carriers to RTGs, as part of a modernisation and expansion plan. A total of 32 RTGs will be purchased, along with at least two new (Liebherr) ship-to-shore cranes. Other changes include the conversion of the marshalling yard into a staging area and the provision of more reefer points (from 400 to 810), while the size of the CY will also be increased.
