Civitavecchia operator Roma Terminal Container SpA (RTC) is to transfer its operations in three stages during 2008-2009 to a different part of the port (Wharf No. 25), which will give it the possibility of handling post-Panamax ships as opposed to just feeder ships today. RTC’s present shallow water facility has a 200m long quay with a 30,000 m2 back up area, but the new one has 700m of berthing with up to 16m alongside and 200,000 m2 of back-up area.
