The heavy road to sustainability
NewsOEMs continue to make progress with battery-powered machines and alternative fuels as more ports in the US line up for government incentives for low and zero emissions equipment.
Last year, container traffic through the Port of Rauma jumped 40% to 170,000 TEU and 28% in tonnage to 1.5 Mt, boosting revenue and highlighting potential capacity problems. Total traffic last year reached a record 6.56MT, 11% up on 2006 and 4% up on the previous all-time record in 2004. Container traffic in 2007 will reach 185,000 TEU, so growth has slowed but the capacity constraints are getting tighter.
