At its October meeting the Board of Commissioners of the Port of Freeport, Texas chose to enter negotiations with Spanish port operator Dragados SPL to operate its new Velasco Terminal. Last year Freeport issued a Request for Qualifications to over 30 companies and port director Pete Reixach said subsequent requests for proposals were then issued to just two companies. Dragados was chosen as Freeport’s preferred partner and its officials recently visited the site.
