Hapag-Lloyd signs contract for 24 newbuildings
NewsHapag-Lloyd has contracted Chinese shipyards to build 24 new container ships, with a total capacity of 312,000 TEU, for US$ 4b, to be delivered by 2029.
In the past few years Mexico’s national programme for privatising port operations has produced substantial new investment in port facilities and in inland connections. Apart from improving facilities for Mexican-Far East container trades, the country’s Pacific ports can provide “redundancy” for the US market and reduce its dependency on the USWC ports range.
