Toxic waste under UK flag heading for Thailand
NewsAn environmental watchdog has alerted authorities to an illegal consignment of poisonous industrial waste heading for a Thai port.
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has urged the government to build a new container terminal at Pak Bara in southern Satun province, which borders Malaysia, to handle cargo to and from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
The project was initiated during the Thaksin Shinawatra administration but was put on hold after his government was ousted in a coup last year.
