State-run Vietnam Shipping Lines (Vinalines) is considering joining forces with Japan’s Sumitomo group and Belgium’s Port of Zeebrugge to secure funds for the construction of two large ports in central and southern Vietnam.

A Vinalines spokesman said Sumitomo had shown interest in Van Phong port in central Khanh Hoa province and the Belgian port is expected to participate in the development of Lach Huyen port in the south.
