Hamburg has moved a step closer towards its next major container terminal expansion, following an agreement with Buss Group to vacate the area that is required for its 3.5M TEU/year Container Terminal Steinwerder (CTS) project. Officially, CTS is due to come on stream in 2015, but port sources have suggested that it could open as early as 2013. That would make the terminal synchronous with Rotterdam’s second Maasvlakte.
