Nigerian no on ISPS

The Nigerian Minister of Transport, Abiye Sekibo, has stated that his government does not have to cooperate with the US authorities with regard to Nigeria’s compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The US had sought assurances from a number of African countries on ISPS observance, but Abuja argues that Nigeria need only report on the issue to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
