Cherbourg suffers

Reorganisation of P&O Ferries’ Portsmouth service contributed to a 16 percent fall in the number of freight units handled by the Port of Cherbourg last year, to 103,547. Total tonnage fell by 7.15 percent to 4.018 mill tonnes, although non-cross Channel freight increased by 35 percent to 0.476 mill tonnes, helped by the introduction in April of Normarline’s container service to Waterford.
