Portek at the helm

Singapore-based Portek, a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd of Japan, is aiming to handle 1M TEU in a calendar year for the first time in 2018. The company handled 930,000 TEU in 2017.

Singapore-based international terminal operator and engineering and procurement company Portek is teaming up with Spanish crane and mobile plant attachments and safety cage specialist TEC Container SA in the Asian market.

Béjaïa Mediterranean Terminal (BMT), a joint venture between Entreprise Portuaire de Béjaïa and Portek of Singapore, has taken delivery of two new Kalmar E-One2 RTGs, bringing to 10 the total number of RTGs at the terminal. The new RTGs span 6+1, with a highly unusual height of 1-over-7, and have an SWL of 41t.

Ports in the Baltic region have been among the fastest growing in Europe in recent years. Several direct call deepsea mainline services are now scheduled to the area and more will follow.

Singapore-based Portek Group, part of Mitsui & Co, is preparing to step up its activities in the crane leasing market by offering long term lease arrangements for new STS and RTG cranes.
