New York faces surge in demand

The Port of New York/ New Jersey is witnessing significant traffic growth, fuelled by Far East trades. Last year, imports from the Asia Pacific region, predominantly China, increased by 42 percent and accounted for 29 percent of container traffic. This eclipsed the 26 percent contribution made by European trades, which traditionally the port’s main source of container business.
