The indented dock at the Ceres Paragon terminal in Amsterdam has handled loaded containers for the first time, discharging 330 containers filled with cocoa from the URUNDI. The West Africa Linien vessel was originally due to be discharged at Ceres Marine Terminal, but was redirected to Paragon as a test.
The ship was worked by cranes on both sides of the dock simultaneously and, says Ceres’ general manager Rob Sponselee, the results were up to expectations. Hitherto, only NYK, which now controls the terminal, has used the indented dock, but this was purely to carry out berthing trials.
