The TRICOLOR disaster in the English channel last December, when a 1987-built, Norwegian flag, 6050-car capacity car carrier operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Line sunk after a collision with a containership, KARIBA, in thick fog in French coastal waters, has sparked much debate in the shipping industry, about safety of navigation in such a busy waterway, the risk of fuel oil leaks, the loss of almost 3000 premium BMW, Volvo and Saab marque cars valued at almost US$50 mill, and so on.
