Opening his presentation on sea-land transport integration at the TOC Europe conference in Antwerp last month, Michael Beard, managing director of Tranz Rail and former CEOof Australia New Zealand Direct Line (ANZDL), admitted that at first he had struggled to find something new to say. “However, as I thought about the topic,” he continued, “It became clear to me that intermodalism has not yet fulfilled its full potential and there is still much to do.”
