A private company, Cerro Free Port SA, has obtained approvals to develop, manage and operate a multi-purpose port at Puntas de Sayago, Uruguay, for 30 years. Cerro has taken over the US$ 200 mill project from another private firm, Atenil SA, which originally applied for the permits, which include dredging to allow access to vessels drawing up to 10m.
