P&OP pulls out of Kandla

Frustrated by continuous delays in project execution, P&O Ports has decided to pull out of the Rs2 bill (US$42 mill) Kandla container terminal project in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

A K Joti, chairman of the Kandla Port Trust (KPT), said he had not heard from P&OP about its decision, but Jimmy Sarbh, P&OP’s regional director (South Asia and Middle East), told the Economic Times, “The project has been delayed so long that it is now financially and technically non-viable.”
