Evergreen’s new Kaohsiung terminal fully operational

Four seafarers from the sunken cargo ship Fu Shun remain missing off Taiwan’s coast after Typhoon Gaemi, with the captain’s body found.

Typhoon Gaemi has sunk a tanker off the Philippines, killing one crew member, and a general cargo vessel off Taiwan, leaving six crew members missing.

Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) has concluded a long-term lease agreement with Seoul-based HMM for berths 76-78 at the port of Kaohsiung. The deal will lead to the South Korean carrier investing in new equipment and using the port as one of its primary Asia-Pacific operations centres.

Evergreen has signed on for a new 4M TEU automated terminal at Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
