Gangavaram moving ahead?

The south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dubai Port International (DPI) to prepare a detailed project report for the development of Gangavaram as a deep water port capable of berthing new generation vessels.

As reported in the August 2000 issue of WorldCargo News (p4), the Gangavaram port project, near the major Indian port of Visakhapatanam (Vizag), has been continuously delayed ever since it was first mooted in the 1960s.
