Keith Svendsen will take over from Morton Engelstoft at the Dutch-based GTO as of the beginning of July; Martyn Wade retiring from Grindrod Bulk Shipping; new CEO for Sea Lead; new President for ENAPU; changes in Chile and Brazil; DB Cargo posts reconfirmed for 5-6 years; new manager for Rönne; more MyCrane franchisees

After 36 years in various management positions in the A P Møller Maersk Group, Morton Engelstoft is retiring as CEO of APM Terminals on 30 June. He will be succeeded by Keith Svendsen, who has been COO of the Dutch-based GTO since 2017 and was previously with Maersk Line. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO of fleet and strategic brands, will become Chairperson of APMT.

 

After 14 years in post, Martyn Wade is retiring as CEO of Grindrod Shipping’s dry bulk division in Singapore and returning to Europe. During his time in office, the division was spun off from its original parent company Grindrod in South Africa and listed on the NASDAQ. Last December Taylor Maritime Investments acquired a 22.6% stake in the business. He will be succeeded by Stephen Griffith as interim CEO.

Panneer Selvam

Singapore-based container carrier Sea Lead has appointed Henry Schmidt as its new Managing Director. Schmidt joins Sea Lead from his post as CEO of Agility South East Asia. He formerly held positions with Kühne + Nagel, DB Schenker, CSAV and Norasia in Europe and North America.

 

The head of NSB Group’s Singapore office NSB Shipmanagement Ltd Pte, Panneer Selvam, has been promoted to Group. Selvam joined NSB in 2020, having worked at PIL for 23 years, where he was responsible for a fleet of 130 container vessels as general manger technical. Now he has joined NSB’s Board of Directors at HQ in Buxtehude, near Hamburg.

 

In Peru, Manuel Gilberto Hinojosa has been appointed as the new President of the Board of Directors of the National Port Authority (Enapu). replaces Edgar Patiño, who was President for almost eight years.

 

José Renato Fialho has been appointed as the interim director of Brazil’s ports and inland waterways body, Antaq. He replaces Adalberto Tokarski, whose term of office had ended. At the end of the six month appointment, Fialho will return to the position of Superintendent of Performance, Development and Sustainability.

 

Chile’s Puerto Montt Port Company (Empormontt) has announced the resignation of its general manager, Alex Winkler. He left the company on 21 March to take on other challenges. Edmundo Silva, the existing operations manager, will temporarily replace Winkler, who joined the company in July 2019, replacing incumbent Ricardo Trincado.

 

Still in Chile, Loreto Seguel, the acting president of the Public Companies’ Organisation (SEP Sistema de Empresas Públicas)  has resigned. She has been replaced by another lawyer, Paulina Soriano, who previously served as coordinator for the port unit of the Logistics Development Programme of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and is a former VP of the Santiago Metro. SEP represents the interests of the Chilean state in companies in which it is a partner, shareholder or owner, including includes the country’s 10 main ports.

 

As of 1 May, the Port of Rönne on the Danish island of Bornholm will have a new managing director. Lars Nordahl Lemvigh follows Thomas Bendtsen, who is leaving his position by the end of May.

Dr Sigrid Nikutta and Levin Holle

Berlin, Germany: The Supervisory Board of DB AG chaired by Michael Odenwald has confirmed the management positions of Dr Sigrid Nikutta, CEO of DB Cargo, and Levin Holle, CFO of DB Cargo, until 31 December 2027 and 31 January 2028 respectively. Both joined the DB Group in early 2020.

 

Dubai, UAE: MyCrane, digital disruptor for the cranes and construction sector, has signed three more franchise agreements. The UK and Ireland businesses are headed by Mike Bryant, a former sales manager at ALE, which was acquired by Mammoet in 2020. He subsequently worked for Deugro and DB Schenker. His franchise partners are Peter Edwards and Luke King, who have worked for the last 15 years as publishers in the heavy lift and breakbulk sector. In Qatar, MyCrane will be owned and operated by Ant Dynamics, a Doha-based provider of heavy lift and transportation engineering services managed by Kamal Kassab.

 

UK-based supply chain services company Bis Henderson Group has appointed Barrie Javens as Business Development Director for the Group. His appointment follows a series of recent divisional appointments in addition to Tom Fitzgerald as the new CFO and Adrian Fawcett as Chairman. Barrie was most recently Supply Chain Director at Alvarez and Marsal.
