NewsCakeBoxx has had a year of significant milestones, including the launch of an office in Aarhus, Denmark, to support the renewable energy sector.
CakeBoxx Technologies has unveiled FlexBoxx, a container solution tailored for industries transporting steel coils and other heavy materials.
US-based CakeBoxx Technologies has launched its latest container innovation, the FlexBoxx, a solution designed to meet the needs of industries transporting steel coils and other heavy-duty materials. FlexBoxx builds on the success of the company’s previous model, the CoilBoxx, offering enhanced flexibility and usability for a range of industrial applications.
The FlexBoxx, also known as the Flexible Loading Enhanced Container System, is available in both 20ft and 40ft sizes. The 20ft model features a waterproof, sliding tarpaulin system and adjustable cradles, allowing it to accommodate steel coils ranging from 900mm to 2100mm in diameter and up to 2000mm in width, as well as other heavy-duty products. Its tarpaulin system can open from either end, providing greater loading convenience. With a tare weight of 4,700kg (10,360lbs) and a payload capacity of 29,300kg (64,600lbs), the FlexBoxx is built to handle the demands of intermodal transport across marine, rail, and road networks.
One of the key benefits of the FlexBoxx is its adaptable clamping system, which can be operated by a single user to tightly secure cargo from either side of the container. “FlexBoxx’s modular design, including removable cradles, broadens its applications beyond metals, making it a versatile option for various other types of goods,” the company highlighted.
The original CakeBoxx concept introduced a unique, doorless container where the four walls and roof are removed to load and unload cargo, providing enhanced security and simplifying the handling of heavy or bulky items within a standard container unit.
The CoilBoxx, a 20ft model launched in 2019, employs the same innovative deck and lid design, with adjustable cradles specifically for steel coils. This development followed CakeBoxx’s introduction of the 45ft and 53ft BreakBulkBoxx, designed to serve the break bulk cargo market and aimed at both US and international shippers.
