Igus has provided more information about the energy supply chain with data transmission and automatic coupler it has developed to electrify RTGs, as an alternative to cable reels and busbars.

Energy chain and cables specialist Igus included in its display at CeMAT in Hannover a 1 in 3 scale model of an automatic pickup for an RTG when it changes lanes to run on a long travel energy chain. Although no details have been made available, it is understood that a section of a fullscale pre-production prototype will be shown at TOC Europe in London in June.
